Our Faith Based Stance on Social Issues
We, as a body of Christians who place our faith in the word of God “alone”, must take a stand on issues affecting our society. Therefore, we boldly and without hesitation stand on the side of Christ and not on popular opinion. The following is the our official stance on some of the more “hot button issues of our day.
Sadly, large segments of American culture and even some liberal churches openly proclaim “abortion is a right for women in western countries.” But the Bible teaches that the unborn are considered “babies” and are nothing less that human life.
According to God’s word, Rebekah was pregnant with twins, Jacob and Esau. The Bible passage explains, “The children struggled together within her, (Rebekah) and she said, “if it is thus, why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the Lord. And the Lord said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you shall be divided; the one shall be stronger than the other and the older shall serve the younger.” (Gen 25: 22-23)
This event took place many thousands of years ago and even back then, the pre Bronze age, the fetus was considered a child.
In the New Testament, much earlier in time, the book of Luke explains fetal life as a living being, full of life and the world around it. The bible explains, “And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.” (Luke 1:41-44)
But the most profound statement about abortion in the Bible concerning abortion is found in one of the oldest teachings within the Word of God. The Old Testament explains, “When men strive together and hit a pregnant woman so that her unborn child comes out, but there is no harm, the one who hit her shall surely be fined, as the woman’s husband shall impost on him, and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if there is harm, then you shall pay life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. (Exod 21:22-25)
Clearly, God’s law placed a very high value on the lives of the unborn so that to take a life or hut a child would be very costly indeed.
Therefore, as a body of Christians who look to the bible in guidance in all things, we should combat against abortion rights, abortion providers and political leaders who support Planned Parenthood (and other abortion providers) legally and financially.
Our official stance:
1) Governments should enact laws to eliminate abortion except when the mother’s life is in danger.
2) No government policies should promote or fund abortions for any reason.
3) The government should not force or compel people to participate in abortion services or funding.
4) Partial birth abortions should be banned in every country.
“Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” (Gen 2:24)
Marriage was intended to be a lifelong, committed relationship between one man and one woman. Clearly, God never endorsed gay marriage or gay relationships. The example God made from Sodom and Gomorrah teaches us gay rights, including gay marriage, has no place in a Christian, God loving country. Those who endorse and partake in gay rights at the expense of marriage should and “will” pay a hefty price for disobedience. Even unbelievers will be judged according to the will of God must uphold the bounds of marriage as He designed.
Marriage between one man and one woman is held in very regard and should never be taken lightly. Therefore, we have a moral duty to protect and defend the intuition of marriage even at our own peril. John the Baptist was arrested after publicly rebuking Herod Antipas for wrongfully committing incest with his brother’s wife. John’s public defense of marriage resulted in his death. We as Christians should fight for marriage and against gay rights just as publicaly, if not more, as those who work against God’s will.
Marriage between one man and one woman is the building block of all of creation. In Genesis, before God created cities, governments, the professions or even farming, He created marriage. We can see that marriage is the main building block to all other social institutions and society itself.
Our official stance:
- Defining and defending God’s view of marriage should be a goal of the United States government and that of every state.
- Our government should promote and reward traditional marriage because it is the only institution that benefits society and creates children.
- Our government should not endorse gay or polygamous marriage since these rights are not found in God’s word or the US Constitution.
- Christian’s should, at every opportunity, push back against the gay agenda within the United States and around the world.
